Hi how is one supposed to go about withdrawing applications?
simply email them "i would like to withdraw my application and cancel the interview scheduled on xx/xx?" is that all i need to say? i've never done it before please help!

That sounds fine to me.

I think that the norm is to contact schools the same way that they contact you. (i.e. send emails to schools that exclusively email, letters to schools that send mail, etc.) As a courtesy, I would call schools that you have been invited to interview at, so that they can invite a new person in your place asap, and then send a follow up letter or email.

the key phrase is "respectfully decline" - - that's key!!

Just call up and tell the person who answers the phone.. I am calling to cancel my interview and withdraw my application. Please.. dont try and get cute. The person on the phone could care less. It happens all the time. This post was not even needed. Its a simple phone call.
