Hello everyone,

I have a question
Once I was in my freshman year I got D+ in my bio class, because I had health problem and I did not go to the Final exam, but then I retook the class and I got an A, my DAT is 24 and Did a lot of volunteering and shadowing. So do you think I can get accepted in any school or this this impossible,
my GPA 3.567

Thank you everyone

As long as you did okay with upper lvl biology classes, you are good. Nice DAT score btw.

Apply early.

There is nothing to truly be scared of. MANY successful dentists around the nation applied multiple times before they got in and look where they are at now.
Just relax. You'll be fine.

You will get multiple interview/acceptances with those stats/ECs.
But there are a lot of honors student and I'm scared that they will not gonna look at my application at all:/

I really, really don't understand this mentality. Frankly I feel sorry for people who have these patterns of thought. There are people posting here daily with legitimate questions and concerns - multiple W's, way below average GPAs paired with meh DATs, lack of shadowing experience, people with high stats and no interviews or acceptances, etc. Now, we all know posting on places like SDN means we worry about this stuff, too. It's completely normal to express concern over things that are deserving of it. That said, people like the OP are a whole different breed. The fact that someone out there has such fragile mental fortitude as to worry over a D+ freshman year (which they retook for an A), combined with a great DAT and supposedly decent stats otherwise is pretty unsettling. It isn't even really a matter of mental fortitude - more of a...I don't know, common sense thing?

Listen OP, you failed ONE class, retook it for an A, and you even had an excuse as to why you failed the class. Plenty of people are accepted to dental school having failed multiple classes without any excuse! And a lot of them probably don't have a high DAT like yours. Hopefully you understand why coming in here and asking if its "impossible" for you to get accepted makes me want to gently place my palm over my face.

You're fine.

edit- I also hope English is your second language.
