hey everybody! I'm new to this website and to the forum, but I been reading a lot of the postings and they're really helpful and interesting. I was wondering if anybody can offer me some insight onto what I should do...

I'm currently a senior and I applied to two schools, PCO and SUNY. My GPA is borderline and my OATs are borderline too. PCO invited me for an interview in two weeks and I'm sooo nervous. SUNY said they are going to review my file this week or next? Does that mean i should check up on it later?

I'm on the fence of retaking the OATs...should I keep studying and retake it or should I wait till after the interview...what should I do?!?!?!

Usually, if a school grants you an interview, they've already considered you academically qualified enough and the rest of your admission would depend on your interview. The interview usually allows the admissions committee to assess your commitment and knowledge about optometry. They also really want to get to know you as a person to be sure that you can interact with people (hopefully patients in the future) or are genuine in your interest.

If it were me, I'd wait till I found out from SUNY to see if retaking the OAT would be beneficial. Perhaps PCO will have accepted you by then!

It all depends on where you want to go too, I guess. You should definitely keep checking up on the progress of your application.

Good luck.

haha, thanks for replying jeffchou!! I preferably want to go to SUNY because it'll be cheaper for me because I'm from the city. However, if PCO accepts me, I would love to go there too. The only dilemma is the deadline for SUNY is February, I wanted to make sure I had enough time to study, retake it and do well. Ahh, decisions! But, I guess I'll just wait and see. 🙂 Haha, I hope I don't mess up at the interview and do something stupid like burp...

jeffchou...is that an alias or your real name because it sounds wicked familiar.. anyways, thanks again!!

more opinions are welcomed!!!
