Hello,

I am a junior doctor working here in the UK, and really want to do my post-graduate training in the USA .

I graduated medical school from Cambridge, and Oxford...with merits

The only dissapointment is my Step 1 score which was not amazing...however, i am trying hard to ace my Step 2

As an IMG what are my chances of getting into a residancy training programe?
Any tips or tricks would be very helpful!!

The other thing i am stuck with is deciding if i want to go into Plastic Surgery or Neurosurgery...I love both of them!!....and even in plastics i tend to like the craniofacial side!!...the decision is driving me mad!!...any help?....

You have to finish USMLE step2 CK (with high score to compensate for step1) and CS to get your ECFMG certificate.
As I understand, Plastic surgery is very competitive and I it may be difficult to land in with poor USMLE scores. I don't know the case with neurosurgery.
Being an IMG you have to strengthen your application especially that only about 50%, may be less, match every year.
High recent USMLE scores from first trials, recent graduation, strong LORs, high performance in medical school, clinical experience in US and publications beside many other factors, are important factors to land in competitive residency.
Good luck
