Hi,
I'm from Canada and I'm going to apply US dental school in this May

My GPA is 3.71 (BCP)/ 3.77 (Science)/ overall 3.80

I took Canadian DAT twice
but the scores are not good...
First: 19 AA/ 19 PAT
Second: 17 AA/ 20 PAT

FIRST QEUSTION:
I'm planning to take American DAT.
When would be the best time to take DAT so that I can be considered as first rolling admission applicant?

SECOND
When I summit my application in early May, should I say that I'm going to take future American DAT and do not send my Canadian DAT?

or should I send my Canadian DAT scores so that I can be considered as the first rolling applicant before sumitting amerian DAT score?

Any thoughts? 😱

I don't know how it works w/ the Canadian DAT, but if you can avoid sending the score report out, I think it would be a good idea. The 17 AA is going to hurt. You can take the American DAT as late as June 30th and still be one of the first to have a completed application package at schools. If you need more study time to ensure a better grade, take it as late as July 31st. Getting you're scores there by Aug 15th (2 week transit) will still be early enough to be considered for Sep and Oct interviews.

Don't report the Cdn scores on Aadsas, especially since you've reduced your AA score the 2nd time around. Take the US DAT when you're ready. With scores of 20+, you'll have no trouble getting in.

Some schools will take your best scores from all your attempts. You can send your Cdn scores to these schools. Your gpa is pretty good, so your 19AA from the first attempt and 20PAT from the second will get you into schools.

Good luck!

i dont know if you want to withhold any information from the dental schools? however, i am like tamkhan, i dont know anything about the cdat.

send your application in may and take the american dat around the end of june.

Thanks for reply
When do dental school have first interviews? Sept/Oct? or earlier than that?

Since it would be my first try taking American DAT, I just want to have enough time to study. So i guess July 31st would be better than June 30th.
But, I just want to be considered as the first applicant since everybody says it has more chance to get in.

Let me know.

also,
is RC more important than AA?

Some schools start interviews in August, but not that many. I had all my stuff submitted in May (including DAT) and my 1st interview wasn't until Aug 31st. Check predents to see others interview timelines. I don't see how it could make a difference though if you interviewed in Sep or Oct (or even early Nov) vice Nov.
If you're real concerned about being early, than maybe take the test by mid-July. The precise timing of your application though isn't even close to the importance of good DAT scores. If studying to the end of July means you get a higher AA, then it's well worth it.

I don't know for sure what's more important, RC or AA. My guess would be AA. I think an AA 21 and RC 18 looks better than the reverse.
