Hey everyone. It's the end of the year, thank God, and I just received my final averages for the whole year as well as grades for finals. We only have three finals, of which I am only really worried about one, although the other one is kind of stressing me out. The one that I am really worried about is Geometry. I'm in the honors group, and I am smart, but I have been having issues doing well. I think I'm freaking out about grades and things like that, but when the test comes I'm fine, so that shouldn't be an issue. The thing is, I never studied at all in my life, so now that I have to study I am totally confused. Can you give me some ways to study that would help me. I usually read the chapter then take notes when we start the chapter and then do the same things before the test. What should I do? I'm getting really upset because I know I can do better and I have extremely high aspirations for myself. I want to start off on the right foot (which isn't really working.lol.) with good study habits and good grades so that I won't have as much trouble when I start taking harder classes. Thanks!

lanashif,

I’m a high school senior & I had the same problem. I take classes @ a CC so I know it’s important to learn to study now because you will mess up your first few classes in college. There is no easy way around it. You have to read/practice for a little while every day. If you start to get frustrated, get up & do something else & then come back. Do a little bit of studying before every test. Never miss a day of class & take good notes because you'll need those to study off of. When the teacher emphasizes something, it probably will be on the test. Ask your teacher/friends for help if you have to. Ask your friends to join you for study groups & have lunch (this can sometimes be a waste of time so invite studious people). I had to take tutoring for a while and there's no shame in that.

It'll take time but you'll get better at it.
Good luck😀

Study Groups also help. Maybe work on problems with someone to make sure you're on the right track. As for study habbits, try to do some work each day after class, and don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions if you don't understand something.

Best of luck! 🙂
