Hello everyone,

I am starting my 2nd year in college as a biological science major. And I am freaking out. School will start for me in 1 week, and I'm so scared of this year. I have heard rumors that 2nd year is a weeder year for a lot of biology major students, and I hear people drop out of the major like flies when it come to organic chemistry and physic.

I haven't done so well in my first year, so my GPA isn't so stellar, so I am scared of what might become of me in this coming year. The last thing I want is to be force out of my major with a low GPA.

So, I was wondering, for those who have finish their 2nd year of college, can you tell me what you thought of your 2nd year in college and how it's different from your first year?

I would really appreciate it, I would love to hear your experience regardless of your major.

Thank you

Orgo is overrated and isn't nearly as hard as people say (easier than gen chem in my opinion) and physics (at least the version that is offered for biology majors) is a joke.

I Agree. O Chem was my favorite chemistry and more interesting then Gen Chem.

I agree. When it came time to review for the mcat, I dreaded gen chem and looked forward to ochem. Ochem made a lot more sense to me, the mechanisms and such, than did gen chem which was all plugging things into equations.

As for upper-level bio courses, they're not that bad. Like any subject area, you have to dedicate the time and effort into getting a good grade.

Being a doctor is going to be a lot harder than the 2nd year of college, so just chill...breathe...be confident and study. Good luck.
