Just what are my chances?😀.

On first glance, I'd say the lowish MCAT is going to hurt, especially when paired with a below average sGPA. The ECs, volunteer, and research experience are all very average. Not impossible to get into an MD program with those numbers, but chances would be greatly improved with a higher MCAT (33+) and/or higher sGPA (3.5-3.6). Personally, I would retake the MCAT before applying. It would also help if he's a resident of a state with schools with a large in-state bias.

Hmm.. that 33+ on the mcat seems like a big push.

From everything I've read on SDN, it seems to be agreed that ~33+ is needed to make up for a 3.4-ish GPA. But even breaking a 30 would help, I think. Like I said previously though, it's not impossible to get accepted with a 3.4 and 29MCAT, but chances would be dramatically improved for MD programs if either the GPA or MCAT were raised (preferably both). For DO, though, your friend would be good to go.

Lol.. Did the Great Bannie of the North say something was good enough? 😛

I'm surprised he didn't just recommend the Caribbean. 🙄

I speak the facts. 😎

My prophecies always come true. After all, I am not just great, but I am also a divine prophet sent from the great north.

Either ways, serendy's friend asked "What are my Chances?" to get into a med school (I assumed US).

I honestly believe his chances are good enough.
The above statement can be translated into
"He has a good enough chance." for mere commoners. (dropping the I, honestly, and believe, because what I believe always comes true). <- I'm a prophet remember. 😛

If he came in here and asked, what are my chances for the top 20... the response would be much different

Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year.:luck::luck::luck:

amen! All praise be to bannie22.

Hmm everyone is saying to retake the mcat it seems hmm....

One word of caution: Don't take it unless you are 100 percent sure it will increase from the first time and still remain balanced.

I don't think we can be 100% sure about anything.

Bannie22 pre-nervious breakdown. He is exhibting illusions of grandour, a sure sign of psychosis. We failed Bannie22, we missed the signs we should have intervened sooner.

Illusions of grandeur are not a sure sign of psychosis.

Back to studying, young 'un  (spelling practice too)

Its hard to get ideas across to little kids.

Delusions of grandeur, though I suppose one could have an auditory grandiose illusion too (it wouldn't mean the same thing though, illusions are perceptions ).... And actually real delusions of grandeur (which isn't the same as grandiose fantasies) are part of psychosis or psychotic variations on other pychiatric problems such a depression and mania.

sorry, I wrote that at 10pm, which is far past my bedtime😴. This probably wouldn't be a good time to mention that I'm a psych major. fail.

Oh please, most ppl on SDN have no idea what they're talking about. I have gotten a few interviews this cycle and I am nowhere near a 33 MCAT, and have a 3.4 GPA.
