For the hem/onc people: Are you guys concerned about chronic occupational exposure to anti-neoplastic drugs? Researchers have found drugs like cyclophosphamide, cisplatin, carboplatin in urine samples of nurses administering chemo. I supposed oncologists working close to chemo infusion center (ie, seeing patients there) are potentially exposed to these cytotoxic medications through inhalational means, or contamination of chairs, door knobs, pens, etc. Since some chemo agents are excreted through sweat, can oncologists also put themselves at risk merely by shaking patients' hands ?
