Heme/Onc Attendings, what's the research grind like after Fellowship?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did research in fellowship for my attendings just to have my name as a middle author on a paper in a journal along the likes of Frontiers in Oncology.

As an atttending in private practice, I am PI on a pharma sponsored trial and enrolled their first patient on the trial worldwide, and my name was automatically going to be included in the future publication, which will likely be in a high impact factor journal. I did almost zero active work to get this.

0-90% of your time. You get to choose.
💯

@ayjaystudent

I’m in an academic position and right now have a clinical job (ie my research output is not tied to my employment). About 10-15% of my time is spent on research of my choosing. I mostly mentor fellows residents and students. If I stopped publishing tomorrow nothing would happen. I get to do as much or as little as I want.
