Does anyone have any thoughts about the Henry Ford Ophthalmology program? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I heard that call is very busy but it's only every 5th night.

I rotated there...5 residents/year, making primary call for PGY-2's q 5, with back-up by PGY-3 and a PGY-4. All call is limited to a single institution, which is nice, no traveling. As a medical student, I was 'expected' to sit for the resident's clinic everyday, which was usually very slow, with minimal intellectual stimulation. Faculty warmed up some after the students showed initiative in finding out when they had clinic or surgery, and "tagging along" if possible. Faculty's pretty nice there once you get past "quirks." Personally, didn't like Detroit, so it was pretty low on my rank list. It seemed like a decent program, location kind of sucked, but no paucity of ocular trauma in downtown Detroit. Check out Wayne State's ophthalmology program (also in Detroit), they were particularly impressive, with a great program director.
