Patient this morning was on Rifaximin at home, and the admitting team added Neomycin as well. I have a feeling the intern didn't know that's what the Rifaximin was for.

Is it kosher to use them together? They have different mechanisms on the bacteria themselves, but the overall clinical idea is the same.

There likely isn't much added benefit to the two drugs together. It probably isn't going to kill the patient.
