xx/xx/xx (AA/TS/PAT)

What would you do? I did 16 on the RC. English is my second language.

i wouldn't be too worried if i were you. those are solid scores even with the RC. congrats!

my .02cents: do not retake. those scores aren't easy to come by.

some schools have a cutoff at 18 for the RC section. so you might want to check to make sure the schools you plan on applying to arent one of them.

Yea thats is true!! Some school I heard will not even look at your application unless you meet their cut-offs. After all, they get about 1500 applications! So its good to make sure!

either the respective dental schools website or just call the admissions offices in person and ask them if the scores you have will hinder your application.

Why didn't I think of that!! I will call around and will post those cut off points if they exist. Thanks much!

p.s. What would you do if you were in my situation??

Those are good scores, especially if English is your second language.

Well If I were you I would stick with the score as long as I have a descent gpa and as long as the 16 in RC doesnt pose a problem. But considering how my state school is highly selective, I would do a retake. It all depends on your gpa and where you plan on applying.

BodybldgDoc what schools has a cutoff at 18. the national avg is like in most sections 17 so having a cutoff at 18 is kinda funny don't you think. whats schools harvard/columbia/etc that dont count.

Congrats on those awesome scores!! esp.. the PAT. Very hot!

Some schools put alot of emphasis on RC section, so like the others suggested.. just check each individual schools out and see where you stand.

the competitive/selective ones. there are past threads about cutoffs in DAT sections. Please feel free to abuse the search function.

I agree with everyone who encouraged you to check with the schools!

Also be smart about where you apply. If you apply to schools where you don't meet the cut off requirement, then you just wasted money. If you apply to state schools that only take a fraction from out of state, make sure you meet their stat averages!

www.predents.com is a good place to check out stat averages.

Does Stony Brook have a cutoff score for RC?
thanks.

well, I have decided to take it again. Considering I am taking Org II right now along with Bio I, I think I can do better. 🙂 Wish me luck!

Wow, so you took your DATs before u took orgo 2 and general biology series? Those are solid scores.

mad propz....if you feel like u wanna take another shot at it (only cuz of RC) then go for it....
or simply check out the cut off for RC for the specific schools u are applying to buddy...
best of luck😀

I am taking bio 1 right now and organic chemistry 2 this semester.😀 I think those classes are helping tremendously with DAT studies.

Lonely Sol,

I just called BU but they said there is no cut off point.

Case do not have cut off points even though they would like to see 18s and above.

When my friend called them for the last cycle, they told him they hardly give out interviews to people less than 18 across the board unless they have something phenomenal in their application!!

Indiana University has a minimum RC requirement 18. Under no condition they will invite you for an interview if your RC is below 18.
English is my second language too and I got a 16 on RC. So we're on the same boat.
Good luck
