So ill break it down as fast as possible
current gpa-3.4c 3.9s ( without grade forgiveness)
...still have around 40 credits left for undergrad microbiology

So your thinking, hey that's not too bad! ....well there's more.

I had just about the worst semester ever at a four year fresh out of High school
sort of a valid excuse for the bad grades, health issues due to pregnancy and had to leave
Comp 1- C
Music bull**** course -F
Psych -F
random history -D

From there took 45 credits at local cc and attended lpn program. The only prereqs I took at cc were Bio 1 there and comp courses.

So now that I am at my 4 year university( ranked maybe 170th in the nation I think?) I have started to think that these things will forever hinder me despite seemingly above average grades. I usually get from 3.8 to 4.0 for any given semster gpa

My extracurriculars are-

-science tutor at cc for 1 year
-lab assistant at my current school 6 months thus far
-founder of mothers support group at the school
->500 hours nursing clinical work
->150 hospital volunteer hours
.....I plan to beef this up in my future

So bottom line, how will this situation be received.. It's kind of unique considering the horrible semester AND the fact that I attended a community college for so long. be brutally honest about my future in medicine. Also, what in my extracurriculars is good and where am I lacking. Thank you everyone!!

So even with that bad semester that's your gpa? Looks like you got your act together. Do just as well in your remaining 40 hrs and keep up with the ECs and you'll be in great shape, maybe even for MD. Start shadowing docs, you'll need a letter from one for most schools. I'm going to be brutally honest here: you have nothing to worry about as long as you keep on this track. Nova Southeastern is in Florida and has a great reputation among DO schools.

Your sGPA is a 3.9 even with that F in psych? Psych counts as a behavioral science. Even if you had 100 science credits with a 4.0, and 3 credits with a 0.0, that still doesn't make a 3.9.

Behavioral sciences are counted in the non-science gpa for aacomas.

Hey thanks for the responses! So is psych counted non-science when applying for both DO and MD? that was my impression but I could be wrong
