Hi im new to this forum beacuse Im a pre dent. student. so I had some questions if u guyz can help me?
does most schools for podiatry accept my DAT score instead of MCAT my DAt score is around 18s .and also do you have to have a B.S for all schools? I have one but its from overseas and my GPA isnt that impresivve b/c we had grade out of 20 insted of 4. so when it evaluated it screwd the GPA. and also how many years is the program by the time you get in ?
Thank you in advance

As for Podiatry schools accepting DAT scores I believe most, if not all, podiatry schools will not accept them as for it says on most of their admission requirement sites. Although, if they did, i'm not 100% positive, if the grading standards are quite equivalent I would definitely take the MCAT just to be positive and solidify a mindset in which you completed at least one requirement of any entrance to a specific podiatry school. I say this because if it's equivalent, an 18S is below average and for most committees it looks like a downfall instead of something that can be approved upon. So insisting that you take the MCAT and especially if you improve compared to your DAT it will alter a few committees minds. I pray that you take this into consideration if your serious about entering Podiatry school and all of luck to you!

Now for your GPA, you say you completed your undergraduate studies overseas. It's on a 20 scale instead of 4. When it's evaluated it should give a precise and somewhat accurate basis of what you would receive if you attended any United States university. Look at your GPA as a motivation to possibly do another year and conform some habits that might have hindered you beforehand. If not, I say study very hard and find somewhere secluded from the external environment and try to maintain focus and determination to get the best possible grade on the MCAT which in my opinion I highly recommend you to take.

Finally, a typical podiatric program is usually consisted of a 3-4 year program and depending if you want to further pursue a residency or fellowship the training will last 2-5 years longer again depending on what your interested in and your capabilities.

yea... good bye DAT! only 4 schools actually accepted the DAT outright currently

from NYCPM: Effective with the Class of 2014 (entering in 2010), DAT scores may be accepted in select cases.

AZPOD: prolly no more DAT there as they have their reputation

Barry:
Current scores from the Medical College Admission Test

Temple: no word yet from them

Thank you so much for your time and concern.
I think Im goin g to take the MCAT soon 🙂
and I already applied to get my M.A degree in a U.S school so I can use that GPA as my own.
Thanks guyz again

How soon?----The MCAT isn't a walk in the park, especially after taking the DAT (which was easier), so I'd take a couple of months, get a good book, and immediately start reviewing...Don't even think of using your DAT material, b/c it's an entire different beast.
