I know youre an ex- NY Mets dude, but when I grow up I wanna be Tim Lincecum.. (San Fran)

Man I love this kid!!

He's pitching tonite....23 years old, looks like he's still in high school....until you see his stuff....last batter watched a 93mph strike, then chased a curve ball which looked like it dropped about a foot, then an off speed beauty....

THIS KIDS GOT DA STUFF. 👍

Absolutely, that kid is impressive and fun to watch.
I just hope he doesn't end up like Rick Ankel(?). Remember him?

It looks like he may be here to stay for awhile. Its so fun catching guys like him also. It doesn't matter what you call they are ready to throw it and its gonna be good.

Speaking of Rick Ankiel....I just read where he is lighting AAA up, altho not as a pitcher. He converted to the outfield two years ago, and currently has over 30 HRs and hitting >.300 for the Cards AAA club. They said he will definitly be a September call-up, but may get the nod before then.

BTW....I agree with you both, Tim Lincecum is a STUD!! I am just bummed he pitches in my team's (D-Backs) division.

Yeah, Ankiel is an athlete for sure. I watched some spring training I think it was where they were talking like he may get the call early. Well not yet but close.

Talk about a storybook ending.....I hope he keeps this stuff up!!!!!

After flopping in his attempt to rejoin the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher, Ankiel was called up from the minors and hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning off San Diego's Doug Brocail. Ankiel, who was greeted with a standing ovation before his first at-bat, drew another lengthy ovation and took a curtain call after hitting his third career homer (2 prior as a pitcher).

Not bad for 5'11" 170' huh?

That sucks.

The steroids in sports is ruining every sport I care about except football. Cycling and baseball are the worst currently. I have listened to many discussions on this and I can say that steroids were the main performance drug of choice when I was playing and cocaine was probably second with amphetamines right up there. the old players say it isn't a big problem while the non-players say it is. What do you guys think?

Can steriods help a baseball player?

What about HGH or testosterone?

I think all of them are a huge benefit to even a baseball player where skills are far more fine tuned then say football were strength and speed are of utmost importance. I personally believe that B. Bonds never would have acheived his goal without the supplements. They allow one to recover faster and last longer which is one main reson Bonds was able to accomplish his goal. They not only will allow recovery, thye will strengthen you making your bat speed or arm speed in a pitcher, faster and quicker (quicker is more important). And one thing that is over looked that I feel in the biggest benefit to the hitter is the effect one eye sight. These supplements will strengthen the eye muscle as it does every other muscle. This will allow a older player to maintain the 20/ 15 or 20/10 vision that they had when they entered the league. One big reason players retire is b/c they breakdown and they can't see the ball as well as they did when they were younger.

Read that story myself this morning. I'm a rabid baseball fan, and it kills me to see the sport drug through the mud over the performance enhancing drugs thing. I really think the only way professional baseball will clear its name is if they adopt a very strict, olympic-style, testing policy. That means blood, not urine. The players union seems to be against this idea, stating that it violates the players privacy. I don't really understand that argument. Penalties should be stiffer: One positive, you're out for 162 games, slip up again, you're done. Oh well. Until the steroid thing really hits MLB in the wallet, nothing is really going to change.

Frank Rizzo, that sounds like a great baseball name.

I think you are right about a few things but I also think that congress getting involved is a good thing for once. Sometimes I think, the hell with it, they are professional athletes let them do whatever perfromance enhancing drugs they want to do. If only this didn't make the drug use appealing to the kids. YOu can't use the arguement (with me at least) that its bad for their bodies. So is many professional athletics. Look at football, that can't be good for your body, I know trust me. And the life expectancy of a professional football player is 57.
