hi

iam new at this websit. i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me on how to study with - what sources to use.

i currently use the akplan books. please help

thank you

the three most popular aside from Kaplan are DAT destroyer by Dr. Romano DAT acheiver and Top score I sugesst all three that way you can get enough practice and use them religiously. Each will have their strong points and their weak points. Its also important to familiarize yourself with a computer based test thus the top score and DAT achiever. Recently they have switched to using dry erase boards instead of scratch paper so you might want to practice with that as well. make up your own flash cards with areas you need work on. and good luck

The kaplan blue book is probably the best book to start with. It is quite good at preparing you for most sections of the DAT. You may also want to use Schaum's Outline of Biology to fill in some areas for the biology section of the test. After you feel like you have a good foundation with those resources I would use Top Score DAT which is basiclly a set of practice tests. They are more true to the real DAT experience than you will find from kaplan or other DAT prep materials. This was the basic set of materials I used to study and it worked well for me (22/22/22).

Other resources I have heard are good, but have not used myself include AudioLearn DAT, DAT Destroyer, and DAT Achiever.

Whatever you use, dedicate a couple months of studying to help you prepare and spend a couple of hours most nights if possible. The last week or two leading up to the exam you might want to ramp up your studying hours. These resources are only good if you use your time to really learn the material.

Good luck!

My advice is to first get a good foundation with the Kaplan blue book and Schaum's Outline of Biology (mainly use this for sections not covered in depth in Kaplan). Then after this I would use the destroyer. For problems you don't know in the destroyer use your textbook get a better foundation in that area. I do firmly believe it is the best product on the market, so once you have your foundation make it your main material. For practive tests I would use Achiever (topscore is too easy), it is especailly good for the PAT. Thats my word on it, good luck.
