friends i need some advice from you guys.i am a greencard but i did my medicine from india and graduated this year.i scored 229(92) on my step 1.i also finished my step 2 csa exam.i am preparing for my step 2 ck exam which i ll take in october.i plan to join preliminary medicine this year as i want to get it into a speciality later.i ahve 2 questions
1.Can i apply with my step 1 and csa result on in september to say 40-50 hospitals? Will i get into a good pgy1 postion?

friends please help me out with these and tell me what are my chances.any advise you give will be valuable and greatly appreciated

There is a forum on SDN for IMGs where you might be able to get advice from IMGs who were successful. That's probably your best shot at getting the best advice.

Best of luck.

Realize that in adults on this forum generally use appropriate punctuation, capitalization, and grammar. They generally spell things correctly and do not shorten words (we are not text messaging). People will generally not treat you as an adult who belongs on this forum until you do these things.

If you are not using generally accepted form, that implies to people that you are one or more of the following: too lazy, not smart enough, childish, insincere/trolling.

P.S. We don't generally refer to each other as "friends"

Beriberi,
Was this type of response really necessary? This poster is just asking for advice and his English was good (as opposed to perhaps yours ["realize that in adults on this forum gererally use "]). You are probably a good person, but this was not a good message. And, just for the record, I'm all for calling each other "friends".

Yeah that kind of reply was very unpolite, i mean you were very though, u should just say this way: we apreciate if you write in good english please.
Remember that huge amount of americans are immigrants that want to be treated like home so please be nicer....thanks.

This thread is already making me laugh 😀 I can't wait to see where this one goes...

Hi - I am not qualified to answer your first questions but I can try on the second one. I think I know what you are trying to say. You are going to do prelim IM and then apply to a categorical spot in a specialty. If you don't get the categorical, would it possible for you to still continue with IM? I think that yes it would be possble for you to continue with IM. The hospital where you do your prelim might even let you stick along if you make the right connections and show them that you are hard-working. I am assuming finding a PGY-2 in IM shouldn't be that hard. You may not get it where you want to but I am sure spots will be available somewhere in the country. I hope this helped. Good luck!

You really should post this in the IMG forum. I wouldnt have a clue as to how good or bad your chances would be. Good luck!
