I just finished my first year as an undergrad (I'm class of 2010, theoretically speaking) with pretty decent marks I guess..... Anyway, I'm thinking about graduating early (3 years of undergrad - with a BS in Biology.. minor: Chemistry…

I'm thinking about doing this because I really want to go to this one dental school in town.. I was pondering… if I applied and didn't get in the first time, I could always apply again next yr right?.. while waiting for the applying cycle to come back around.. I could use that time to do some research, shadow, or volunteer at a clinic.. 🙄 I would be more screwed if I decided to wait and graduate in Spring 2010 (apply to dental school in Fall 2009?!), apply to dental school and didn't get in...................

I don't know what I should do. Should I graduate early WITH a Bachelor's or wait until the right time and graduate..... Does it really matter tho? I mean.. what would the adcoms say/think if I graduate early??? :\ It's ok as long as I have a degree before entering dental school, right? (and GPA/grades matter too)

I'll be done with all predent prerequisites by Summer 2008!~~... Planning on take a Kaplan course before I take the DAT.. I don't know when I should take the Kaplan....

Thanks for your time!

You have too many questions, but to answer the main one, it won't hurt for you to graduate early. They might even be impressed by the heavier courseload, as long as your grades don't slip because of it.

If you plan on graduating early, you need to get a little shadowing time in now and plan to take the DAT next spring and apply next May or June.

We cant answer this question for you, you need to make that decision. But Enjoy Undergrad it is the only time you will be there so enjoy it. It can be a lot of fun. Dont rush it.

But the best thing for you to do would be go to the dental school and ask them. I would go soon before they get too busy reviewing applications, and getting ready for this next year. Since you said the school you want to go to is in town, go ask them, they will give you the best answer, as far as what they are looking for.

Enjoy undergrad, but be warned that things can happen and you can all of a sudden suck at your classes.

thanks for the comments guys!!
