Hi, I'm a college freshman and am wondering if you did volunteer work that had to do with ophthalmology or not before you applied to medical school.

Just take it one step at a time. Enjoy your undergrad years first and maybe volunteer in a few free clinics (not necessarily ophtho) to beef up your med school application.
