Just saying hello. This is my first time posting a thread since I just joined. From the bit that I have been on here, I think this site is great. I'm predental at USF (Tampa) and so far things are going ok. My course workload consist of all the required sciences (Org II, Bio II, PHY/L and Immunology) and that's pretty much all I'm taking. I was wondering if anyone could advise any other course other than sciences, the general eds and/or psycology courses that would be good as a predental student. I have read on some school websites classes like painting or sculpting, so I was wondering if taking something like piano would be a good idea. Hope to get your thoughts on it. Good luck with everyone in classes or the application process.🙂

taking piano would be a great idea...it would illustrate that you have a desire to improve your manual dexterity skills..i have played for almost 13 years and its alot of fun. hope this helps

Yes.
I think playing instruments is really helpful. When I was interviewed, they asked me if I played any instruments instead of asking how my manual dexterity skills were. My playing of Violin and Trumpet helped a lot

Music is an excellent E.C. Every interview I've attended thus far has asked me about my backround in musical performance. Not only does it help your manual dexterity, but it works as a great stress reliever (for me anyways).

So yes, take a piano class if you are interested, it WILL improve your application.

Yup, learning to play an instrument is a great way to demonstrate your creative side. At an interview, my interviewer talked about how musical talent is great for picking up girls. Good times!

they asked me if i am artsy... said my mom is an artist, and I am kind of artsy... heheh. If u want it easy take an art class, and say u are good with ur hands.

Just want to say THANKS for all the replies it has been so helpful. This is such a cool site. So, I signed up for a Beginning Piano I class at USF. I'm so excited to take it and I can't wait. I think it will be fun, and as some of you have said a great stress reliever and a great way to improve my manual dexterity skills. Thanks everyone. 🙂

i think ncaa football is pretty good for hand eye coordination. reading down field coverages, hitting receivers, stopping the run, etc.

I used to pwn in counterstrike and starcraft. Does that make me good at hand eye coordination?
