why do some schools ask for SAT scores, high school name, public/private status, rank, class number, etc?

washington U. asked, and i think hopkins did too. but why? what do they use that info. for?


this may have been discussed before, but i dont feel like doing a search.

They could be doing research for possible BA/MD programs. That info would give schools an idea of how much kids change during college and what HS stats are good indicators for success in college.
