only two schools ask for high school transcript, harvard and buffalo and i don't think it's a major part of the application anyway so don't worry!

well harvard is my dream school. and i estimated my chances as .01% without the h.s. transcripts. they must mean something if they require them. they say "provide h.s. transcript, if available", i wonder if i could say "my high school file disappeared"-would it be believable, if i graduated h.s. over 8 years ago at the time of application? im not ashamed of my sat scores, and i could get ETS to send those, but h.s. transcript🙁

You'd have to get your school district to send a letter saying that your records are unavailable, were lost, etc. I doubt they would do it unless this were true and I believe lying would shoot your application in the foot more than a crappy high school record- especially if you did very well during college.

Wait until Harvard contacts you first, it said so on their website.

UCLA also requests a high school transcript. I always thought it was just to verify AP classes.

I asked when I interviewed at HSDM and that's what I was told. Seems valid to me. A lot of prereqs at universities (general chem, physics, English, etc.) can be tested out of w/ 5's on AP exams.

May I ask why?

If it's the name, you got another thing coming.

im not applying this year, but next. and i did not get any ap credits. and there are no ap scores on my transcripts, though i took them and mostly got 3's. But there are grades on my transcripts, for all those ap classes, and they look so bad...

if it's lame then why does everyone want to go to harvard????? why dont you all just apply to your local state schools, and then i'll have a shot at Harvard

please someone tell me that i'll have a shot at getting the interview if i get 25+ on the dat? I think i should easily get a 30 on the quant part, because it's like sat1, and i should definitely get near 30 on the chem and bio, because i'll study hard for the next 9 months! The only things that could keep me down are verbal and pat. but even if i get only 20 in those, i should still get 25+ overall

Well, the thing is, not everyone wants to go to Harvard. Many people, usually the people that have not done thorough research into the subject, get caught up in the name of the school. Harvard's dental program is a very academically based, so the clinical side is definitely not one of their strong points. Most of us who rather be clinicians tend to steer clear of Harvard.

Sherm, but harvard is the most selective school. Hence more people want it than any other school. So it is silly to ask me for the reason why i want it, if it's the school that most everybody wants.

I think your chances may actually improve a little if you've done well in college and improved upon a past high school record that maybe wasn't the best. It shows you worked hard towards doing something you want...my high school record for sure wasn't the best, I think I graduated with a 3.0...but I definitely proved alot of people wrong after my grades in college. Its a different game.

Not too bright, are you?

Go do some research before lecturing.

harvard doesn't interest me. but, good for you if you really want to go there...

you have no clue how dental schools work ... apply to the schools you want to go to.

Dexa, well i dont have a 3.9 in college. And i still dont think the chances improve because of that. That's like committing a crime and then going straight, it still characterizes you negatively. I hope to get that at least for the junior year, i will do my best. And indeed i dont think highschool is whats going to make or break me. I just felt sentimental, because i did everything wrong during highschool.

Impeccable logic.

Being a goofball in high school is in no way similar to committing a crime. Most of us probably didn't know we wanted to be dentists back then...so in my eyes, it shows motivation if hopefully you have improved your study habits and so forth. Not everyone goes through life with a perfect 4.0...its nature is one of nurture and fine tuning. I myself can attest for that. However bad your GPA was back then, I'm sure you've done better now. If thats not the case...then may God be with you.

Shouldn't they check AP scores as opposed to the AP classes you enrolled in? I don't think high school transciprts have AP scores on them. Collegeboard might be the only people who might have those.
