Highlighting and underlining while reading notes or textbook for Step 1

Hey guys,
I was wondering...Do you think highlighting and underlining is a waste of time and doesn't help you remember the material any better (e.g., when reviewing notes or reading review books for Step 1)?

First Aid has taken all your highlighting and stuck it in one book. If it helps you for class, fire away. I wouldn't bother with the other sources for Step 1, though. You won't have the time you'll need to pull it off, and there are most likely discrepancies between what you'll need to know for class and what's on the boards. There's also the issue of you potentially tossing out important info as junk and vice versa.

depends on how much time.. i will read FA path for my strong systems and RR for my weak ones, pharm i would race through Pharm Recall or the pharm sections of FA

Definately depends on how much time.
I had a path final that went over all of systems, I read robbins a chapter a day for 3 weeks (ch. 10-29) and did the corresponding robbins flashcards and robbins review questions for the previous day's chapter(prob about 4-5 hours of work each day). Then used UCV(got around to 2 out of the 3 pathophys), and some of Goljan(didn't make it around to finishing). Then went through all the powerpoints once in the day or two beforehand. Webpath is also good, I will try to use that at some point.

We never really got taught pharm but if I had to do a cumulative final, I'd probably go through pharm recall and watch the kaplan videos.
