For people with private practice in a state like TX or TX. I want to hire a NP and plan on doing direct billing mostly. Any advice on that? Do you credential them with your insurance. What’s the general process?

Prepare to get blasted for even considering such blasphemy...

I work in TX and the company I work for just hired an NP. I had no part in that whole process as far as the credentials go. But I'm not opposed to hiring/working with NP's as seemingly the majority in here are. It helps that the NP I work with is really good and collaborates well. I've worked with some very good NP's over the years. I've inherited patients that were seeing NP's before me that I wonder what the heck they were treating though so . Just be ready for people to come out of the woodworks to tell you how terrible of an idea it is and how you're ruining psychiatry and yourself by going down this road.

I don't think the OP is going to be blasted. I also don't think they are going to get much helpful info as this is a very, very specific question.

Lol maybe I was thinking of the psych facebook group I'm in because everytime someone asks about supervising NP's, the feedback is generally pretty condescending and negative.
