I have never taken histology before so lets assume that I only vaguely know what a eukaryotic cell looks like; can someone direct towards a good histology book for self teaching?

i think histology will come to you. i'm a microbiologist and had a tough time figuring out cell size differences (go figure) but it gets easy after the initial confusion.

i used Histology by Ross. the photomicrographs are very nice and they do a good job of explaining things in the pictures...

good luck! :luck:

Wheater's Functional Anatomy is pretty awesome, Meg. 👍

Hey G

I would look at Functional Histology by Kerr. Good book and good explanations.

try histotime or histology time on CD. good organ systems approach tutorials.

Do you know how hard it was to find an older female applicant profile with those scores?!?

The photomicrographs in Kerr are truly phenomenal. Works of art. Good concise text too. I don't know why this book isn't more popular.

Just never heard of it, is all. Plus I rec'd my copy of Wheater's gratis. 😀

another vote for wheaters. we use Ross in my class. there's also a program called "histology image review" - also available online. have a look at that.

Cheer up. At least you guys don't have to put up with people next to you in the 24-hour computer lab making out while you're trying to look at histology slides...

Since my whole school reads this site...yes nasty slobbering couple...I'm talking about you...go get a room please...

Thanks for all the suggestions@! My group has a weaters so I will start paying more attention to it.

Elysium- I'm gonna see if I can score Functional Histology from somewhere.

I'm closing this thread since I have the inability to delete other people's post and this thread is headed somewhere it wasn't ment to go.
