I have looked over this case from different perspectives, and I would be cautious on how you examine the case. It appears that both sides were guilty of poor judgment. And no one should examine a trial without looking at the transcripts of what was presented, the news can always add a spin.
I asked my brother ('06 grad) about this and he said he knew about it for over a year, and it's just getting in the news. Interestingly enough, my brother fell out of his rack one night after drinking and hurt his eye, and this Ronan guy was the one who fixed his eye up.
He also said that they did an inquiry into all the Academy docs and found another doc (a captain, no less) who wasn't really a doctor. And I mean no med school, no licence, nothing. So he's getting court martialed too. My brother said that both docs were the ones who did his pre-commissioning physical.
So I guess the lesson to me is to 1) get a license and 2) don't videotape your sponsered mids having sex.
