Holding more than 1 acceptance after April 30th

Hi there,

I needed advice on a matter. I am a Canadian who applied to both US and Canadian Schools this year. I eventually got 1 offer from a Canadian medical school and was put on the waitlist on my US medical schools. I have already accepted my Canadian offer.

Just today I was informed that I was offered a place from the waitlist of one of my dream US schools and was required to respond within 2 days. I really want to go to this school but my ability to go here depends on the aid I will receive which could take more than a week or two for the school to process. I want to accept the offer to this school; however, I also don't want to rescind my Canadian offer because if the aid is not good enough then I will likely prefer the Canadian option. If I do this, that would mean I would be holding two offers at the same time, after April 30th, until I receive my financial aid. I talked to my Canadian school and they said there should be no problem from their end because they don't share data with AMCAS and the only consequence I would experience is probably the loss of my deposit. I just wanted to know would it be ok from the US med school end as well. Can anyone give me some advice regarding this?

I'm pretty sure if your Canadian school isn't communicating with AMCAS, the US med school won't know about it unless you tell them since it's not in the system they communicate in. Word of caution though: if it ends up that there is communication so you do only have 2 days to make a final decision and the school itself didn't tell you a timeline for the financial aid feedback I wouldn't really rely on it (aka make my decisions with the assumption I wouldn't be getting a lot if any).

Take my words with some salt though since I'm not Canadian and not an adcom lol Good luck!
