I know that at a certain point in the cycle, the schools you've been accepted to can see all of your other acceptances where you're also holding a seat in the class. What I've been wondering is how schools view students with several acceptances? As someone who has funded my education thus far through student loans primarily, I'd like to keep my options open and see which school will offer the best financial aid package.

So basically I'm asking, would schools see the multiple acceptances and view it negatively (i.e. I don't really know where I would like to go/aren't truly interested in this program)? Or would they see it positively (as in this student is sought after, we should offer a more generous scholarship)? Or would it just be sort of neutral?

YMMV.

We accept many strong candidates who have acceptances elsewhere. That's just how the game is played. Like most schools, we have limited resources to attract high value candidates, so we have to use them judiciously. Most often I would say they are deployed to try and land unicorns. These are the folks who hit one or more of our value-added criteria and who will likely get multiple acceptances.

It's unusual for us to try and woo applicants who may be really strong, but are generic enough to be easily replaced from the wait list.
