My DAT is wednesday and I'm still messing up on hole punch. I've read posts about an "automatic" method where you don't have to think about it and it gets you the right answer every time but I can't seem to get it. Can someone please explain? I use the grid method, but i have trouble when there are multiple diagonal folds or when the holes aren't "true".

I don't know the "automatic" method...but I thought the tic-tac-toe method worked pretty well for me since I've gotten 14/15 and 15/15s on Achiever. For half punches, just place a hole for it on the tic tac toe chart if you see there's paper for that position as you unfold, unless there are multiple folds. And diagonal folds typically just creates a mirror image of the pattern, so half punch = one hole, multiple punches = know your line of symmetry then you should be able to figure it out. After all, I guess it requires some imagination, too.
