So now that we're into the last weeks of interview season...has anyone come to grips with actually formulating a ROL? I have all of these notes and folders and I haven't actually let myself say outloud which school is my absolute number one for fear that it makes it very real (I don't feel like even sharing that info with my family yet) And then what happens if you don't match there? Is it unheard of to keep that info to yourself until you open the envelope? Am I the only one stressing about making a final list?

(Maybe I just need some cyber commiseration to make me feel a little better 😳 )

I can't say I'm having the same problem. I found my #1 program in late November and no one has topped it yet, although I do have a strong #2. I have a few more interviews left but I don't think that will change things. If I don't match at my #1, however, I can see myself being fairly dissappointed. Sorry for not being much of a help. Good luck

Thanks! I will take all the luck I can get. It isn't really that I don't know which program I want (like you though, I could be happy at a few), but I'm afraid that it might be "out of my league" so I think I'll just keep it on the DL until envelope time...then we can all be surprised...

For me though my number one spot is 2000 miles away and requires a prelim yr and my number 2 spot is 80 miles away and categorical...so that envelope will hold some sure surprises-

I've been forming a rank list during my interview track. Have a couple of interviews left but I don't think it'll change things.

I wished more programs were categorical though :/

P.S. Word of advice...try to have your rank list in at least a week before the final submission date. My dean warned us that last year there were people who couldn't submit their rank list the night before because the system kept crashing. Not really sure what happened to them. 😱

My top 3 are set, after that, I have just no idea. I liked them all. I liked all the programs (except one), all the cities, all the people. I really have no idea what I'm going to do for #s 4-10. I'd be happy at (almost) all of them, so I guess it doesn't matter much, but I'm definitely in the same boat.

My last interview is tomorrow, thankfully. I have been trying to keep a running ROL going as I've done each interview. I thought I had a clear #1, but my last 2 interviews have both been great. So now I don't know what to do, but I could see myself being happy at any of the 3. My 4+ will be difficult to formulate.

I'm like you DL, but maybe have different reasons for keeping my ROL quiet. If I rank someplace high that my wife doesn't like I could at least blame it on the match if she doesn't know how I ranked it. 😀

With only 6 programs to rank (2 of which I haven't interviewed with yet), my rank list is pretty much made up; certainly #1 I know, unless the remaining interviews blow me out the water. I do need to get the Final Stamp of Wifely Approval, however, so maybe I shouldn't act so conclusory. 😀

Good luck to everyone with wrapping up their Residency Quest!
