The wing of a bat and the foreleg of a an alligator are

A. analogous structure
B. Homologous structure

which of is it? i thought it would be analogous structure but it is homologous. why?

for homologous structure, two animals have the same similarities in their bone structure or another part of the body and also have the same origin. but for analogous structure, their body part may be the same but their origin is different. Am i correct or not?

It's homologous because forelimbs were present in the common ancestral species of bats and alligators.

Analogous would be the wings of bats and the wings of birds; yes, the forelimbs are homologous, but they developed wings independently.

Homologous structures are structures with DIFFERENT functions. Ex/ Forelimbs of humans and dolphin fins.

Analogous structures are structures with the SAME function. Ex/ wing of a bird, wings of a butterly.

Since the bird uses it wing to fly, and the alligator uses it foreleg to swim; thus, the structures are homologous.
