I am very surprised to hear that Yale did not fill their spots last year. I know it's not the best program but is there a strong reason for not going there? I would greatly appreciate your comment since I am considering applying there among many others. Thank you.

Also comments on UC-Irvine would be appreciated. They also appear to have trouble filling their spots. The reason why I want to know about these two programs are because I have families and relatives very near those programs making them somewhat attractive.

Yale had a lot of transitions at the top in the past year or so, which may have dissuaded some people from going there. I know that their clinical service is now being managed by David Greer, the noted coma and hypothermia expert and neurointensivist. He had been the residency program director at Partners before this move.

I would definitely encourage people to take a good look at Yale, as it might look a lot different from people's opinions over the past few years.

Thank you for the latest info. So was it heavy research orientation that drove people away from Yale?

Anyone on UC Irvine? My family lives right next to their hospital.
