Honest question about LORS and timeline.

Hi all,

- Just want to know how late into the game we're getting here when it comes to interviews. I'm starting to get antsy because I have no offers (but also no rejections) yet. The whole rest of my app is strong, but I'm still waiting for those LORS to come in. Two were received by ERAS today, and I know that two more will be received next Monday. Have programs already filled up their spots for the most part ? -

I'd be interested to hear about this as well. Many of the places I applied have a Nov 1 deadline, does that mean everything? I have one LOR outstanding and I may have to ask one of the attendings I'm with this month to hurry one into my school if it doesn't come through.

Well, just based on my experience so far - I have three letters in (2, one from SICU and one from medicine were in early September; the third, an EM chairman's letter from my home program was in Oct 1st). A fourth - my only true SLOR - will be done hopefully in about 2 weeks. So far i've gotten 3/28 interviews, but the vast majority of these 28 (like 22 of them) don't seem to have started offering interviews yet... so based on that, I would say that having all of your letters in isn't critical for getting interviews, though you should have something...

i'm waiting for 2 SLORs to come in as well. so we're not that far behind the curve in that respect. although, i sure would like some PDs to get those letters out 🙂

I have 2SLORs from my home program and another that just came in (although I applied with my original two SLORs to all programs). I also had LORs from two ID faculty members that I worked closely with over several years, and IM Dept letter (for the EM/IM programs) and a Psych LOR.

I also just found out my Step 2CK score last week- I do not know how many programs like to see those as well.

For what it is worth....
EM/IM (applied to 9)- 3 interviews thus far
EM (applied to 26)- 3 interviews thus far

Most of the programs I applied to do not seem to be giving interviews yet either. My guess is that many programs are waiting for our files to be complete with the dean's letter and make sure we are not serial killers or anything.
