I just got my MCAT today and couldn't stop crying. I have a 32 and as I've already submitted my secondaries to the schools I really want to attend there's no time to retake for this application cycle. I've lived in California all my life and want to stay here, but every Californian MSTP seems highly ranked and difficult to get into. Should I reapply or simply drop the prospect altogether?

There doesn't seem to be any point in withdrawing your application-- just roll with it. Especially with a good gpa and research that you can speak about enthusiastically and intelligently, the game isn't over. I don't actually know anything about Cali schools, but I do remember how much of a crap-shoot the process felt like. Just go into the interviews with confidence, not sheepish about any part of your application, and I think that's the best thing you can do at this point. Good luck!

ps-- my mcat was lower than that *and* my gpa sucked, but I had enough research/publications to pull me through and I'm at a school that I like alot.

I have a hard time staying positive about standardized testing and its effect on my future, especially given that I did pretty poorly on the SAT, SATIIs, and GRE and that had profound effects on my undergraduate and graduate applications.

Thanks, Odd. Can I borrow some confidence from you?

There is a poster on this forum that is an M1 at UCSF that scored similar to you on the MCAT. Don't get down on yourself. If the average at schools is 35 (and this is for the very best), then there will be plenty of 38's and plenty of 32's. I think you'll do fine.
