Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has information and impressions on the Hopkins postbac/premed program. Perhaps I'm not searching these forums correctly, but most of the info seems dated. Specifically, I'm interested in:

(1) competitiveness of admission and attrition rate;
(2) atmosphere and quality of advisement
(3) are the classes during the day (that's what I want)
(4) do they really have a 100% admission rate into med school? Which schools?

Thanks much.

I recently interviewed with JHU (waiting to hear back now) and was very impressed with the program. I believe the program is somewhat competitive, the program size is only 20/30 students max, which is very small. I came away very impressed with advising quality, the advisors really get to know every person individually and set up a lot of meeting/seminars on getting in to med school and have presentations from various med school application committees. Advising seemed top notch.

Atmosphere seemed very friendly between the students that I met. Most of them live within the same apt building! 🙂 Most classes during the day - but can have labs at night (scheduling of classes really not flexible at all).

Not sure if admissions to med schools are really 100% (so they say) but the list of schools where students were accepted to and where they matriculated was highly impressive and long (any top school you could think of was on the list), so I believe their claims. With 20/30 people in a program, you would expect all of them to get admitted somewhere I guess....

Hope that helps! 🙂
