Alright Grasshoppas,

Jet needs advice.

I'm a horror flick junkie.

Got a buddy commin' to the crib for a cuppla' night stay, lookin' for some hair-raising scarin'.

Ant new flicks that are REALLY scary? I saw the Emily Rose exorcism flick. Thought it was rated-G.

Seriously though,

any new good horror flicks?

Have seen both Saw movies. Pretty good, but not SUPER SCARY like the first Exorcist movie.

Not looking for hack-em-up-stupid-horror.

Looking for shake-your-emotions-scared-if-the-lights-are-out-horror.

Any new, truly scary movies out there?

Uhhhh...

your used-smelly-gay condoms are not the subject here. Just toss 'em in the Glad's trashbag with your Domino's Pizza box.

And Purple Rain was a respectable movie. (RIGHT, VENTY???)

C'mon, Dude.

Toss your s hit aside, and give me some real horror guidance.

Rosemary's Baby was pretty phucked up

I'd also recommend Eraserhead by David Lynch if you want to thouroughly feel permanently disturbed inside your head for the next couple of weeks. 👍

Also, not a very scary movie..but also somewhat disturbing was 8mm staring Nicolas Cage, Joaquin Phoenix, James Gandolfini, Peter Stomare as Dino Velvet, and "THE MACHINE!"

Max California: "There are some things that you see, and you can't unsee them. Know what I mean?"

"Candyman, Candyman, Candyman!"

I saw "Hostel" fairly recently in the theater. It's a little on the slasher/gorefest side, but there's enough suspense that I found that it was more than just a slasher movie.

Exorcist: the beginning.

I thought this was a pretty scary flick. All the suspense of the old exorcist with great graphics and story line. This is the prequel and in this one, no one is exempt from death... not the children not the old folk not the priest.... :scared:

and the dts/5.1 digital surround is awsome!

"Audition"
It's a Japanese movie that Rob Zombie said was the most disturbing movie he ever saw. I haven't seen it, but that alone makes me nervous.

"The Grudge" is wicked scary, according to an old roommate who lives for scary movies. I won't watch it. I also heard that "The Ring" is scary, but again, I get too freaked out to watch 'em! 😱

how about scary movie and scary movie 2

it says it in the title what it's about and it tells you its gonna be scary.. I dont like to be scared so i have not seen those movies..

i did autopsies for the state medical examiner for a while before med school . . .

movies ain't scary. state ME's who ignore murders are scary. look up "The Torso Killer" to get a hint of the **** i put up with . . .

so, scariest flick? close encounters of the third kind . . . or fire in the sky . . .

god i hate aliens. those f*ckin big eyes and all , , , bbbbbbbbbbb

:::shivers down spine:::

1972 gave us

The Last House on the Left

easily one of the most uncomfortable horror films out there. check it out if you can find it. should be in any so-called horror fan's mental image archive.

to steal a review:
"Future Nightmare creator and Scream weaver Wes Craven's film debut is a primitive little production that rises above its cut-rate production values and hazy, grainy patina via its grimly affecting portrait of human evil infiltrating a middle-class household. The story is adapted from Ingmar Bergman's The Virgin Spring, but the film has more in common with Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs as it charts the descent of a harmless married couple into methodical killers. A quartet of criminals--a distorted version of the nuclear family--kidnaps a pair of teenage girls and proceeds to ravage, rape, torture, and finally brutally murder them in the woods, unwittingly within walking distance of their rural home. The killers take refuge in the girls' own home, but when the parents discover just who they are and what they've done, they plot violent retribution."

I second Rosemary's Baby. I prefer psychological terror to the silly slasher flicks. Haven't seen a good horror flick in a loooong time.

Nice replies!

Thanks a bunch.

i second the ring.... and have someone call your house an hour after the movie and hiss, "seven dayssss..."

The People Under the Stairs

kinda humorous too, but it still disturbs me

I'll also nominate The Ring as a pretty scary flick the first time you watch it. A movie from 10 years ago that I thought was a pretty good scare and seems to be somewhat unknown is Event Horizon.

Most "scary" movies just don't do it for me. The standard slasher fare is a bit lame if you ask me. Gotta get a little supernatural to give me a scare.

Saw 1,2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Remake)
Halloween 1
High Tension
Jeepers Creepers

I thought the Ring was overrated and the Grudge was just lame.

watch THE OMEN...
i.m.o. the scariest movie ever.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075005/

i guess its better to categorize the movies.
like suspense/scare
sacrilage
aliens/sci fi
slasher gorefest
i think the ones with the least amount of gore are the scariest... bc they have to draw you into suspense with just the story and not the effects and concentional camera shots. i just saw white noise the first time, i thought that was pretty good..

see i spit on your grave if you can find it..

8mm; with Nicholas Cage thought it was quite scary.

Dino Velvet: "And so it ENDS! As if she never existed"

Dino Velvet:[dying from a gunshot wound to the neck] "This is wrong, something's wrong. Oh, God, not like this. I'm supposed to have something more cinematic. Kill them, Machine... kill them all." [dies]

scary movie 4 is coming out soon.

jet may want to check it out

O.k. Jet. I'm a movie buff.

Go see Running Scared. It should be out right now. Not a horror per se, but very disturbing and one of the most graphic movies I've ever seen. Remember, I said disturbing. You've been warned.

Mothman Prophecies is another freeky movie. Not a traditional horror flick either but it is scary/freeky in it's own right. More Twighlight Zonish. Solid movie. You can find it on the shelf.

Ring I is better than Ring II. But, both are pretty good.
I liked Ring I a lot more actually.

Stigmata was a good movie also. It dealt with the devil and possession etc.

I'm not so much into typical horror flicks cause I don't really find them all that scary. But, you'll like to movies I mentioned above. I'll think of some others later. Can't think right now. lol

Has anyone every seen The 13th Warrior? By no means is it supposed to be scary or anything, but it's a total hidden gem. Trust me, I walked past it many times because it stars Antonio Banderas. However, it's a great movie. I highly recommend it, while we're on the subject of flicks.

Great book too.

I Spit On Your Grave wasn't scary, but a great slasher movie if you can find it. I have a downloaded copy. That chick has one top notch set of lungs.

Jacob's Ladder is one of my favorite 'most disturbing' flicks. I couldn't watch it all the way through the first time. Halloween (the first film) was pretty f*cking scary.

There's a German movie called ANATOMY that's pretty scary and then there's a Japanese movie called "Infection" that is also terrifying. If you like terrible horror movies, there was one "Dr. Murder" or something like that. It was so incredibly cheesy! Hilarious! My favorite was when they killed the bad guy in the end, the last line was "Take two of these and call me in the morning".

"Take two of these and call me in the morning!!" POW POW!

Dario Argento's movies are kinda stylized horror, but still cool. Check out Suspiria, Trauma or Deep Red.
Most disturbing movie ever has to go to the Japanese movie Audition. It starts off almost like a love story and then...well it aint pretty.
28 Days Later is my favorite horror movie since Hellraiser I.

I agree with all that.

Funny you bump this post. One of the other guys mentioned The Last House On The Left, a flick from 1972. So tonight I'm at Blockbuster and what do I pass by as I'm browsing the "Action" isle? You guessed it.

It ended about an hour ago, and I'm not sure who I'm more pissed at, myself, or the dude who recommended it! (just kidding whomever that was. in fairness it was more of a mention than a recommendation.)

let me know what you think.

Forget the movies, Jet. Put the dude in a dark room and have him play Doom 3 or F.E.A.R. on the 'puter. He'll be wimpering like a puppy with a 16g through it's nuts.

Or...spend $6.75 to have that venereal-teeming skank that's been eyeing you to come over and flash her dried-up cooter in his face. "The horror! The horror!"

Youre right about the Doom stuff, bro.

Playin' that game with the lights out with a big-time sound system on your TV/computer will force you emotionally-back to the third grade, yearning for a night-lite next to your bed.

I have to second the Omen series. Even though I'm an aethesit, I consider going to church for the next few weeks!

Another weird, not so good film was flatliners. Kinda in the reanimator genre.

has anyone seen Primer? bomber flick. total budget of $7,000, but smart as. there are some scenes that will make you stop breathing, simply because of the idea of whats going on (no way am i spoiling this for you).

check out the trailer:

http://primermovie.com/trailer.html

i will go so far as to say that i gurantee any of you will love it. if not, you will at least respect it. enjoy
