How I was passionately flamed for that post by many...

I have no regret.

That post uncovers probably the most taboo subject during one's med school/residency training......

MONEY.

In this environment where 200K in student loans is not uncommon, somebodys gotta step up to da mike with micatin....

I don't know why you're so proud of that post... That post has practically nothing to do with student debt! If you were trying to highlight the severe indebtedness of students, you did a really poor job of it...

You just take away credit from those who choose a career for more than one reason...

While I agree that it's important to make a strong salary to make up for our debt and all the expenses of living life, the way it was phrased in that post was shallow and derogatory to other physicians, because they chose what they love and it just happens to make LESS money...

I'm going into anesthesia myself, but I think that post did a disservice to other anesthesiologists (but then again, it's just SDN)...

FP docs are like grade school teachers. They play an important role, are important to society, their job is tough, but no one t thinks they should be rewarded monetarily for their efforts. Sad, really.

In 20 years, there won't be any more FP docs. There will be Nurse Practitioners independently following "protocols" and specialists who get referrals for stuff they can't handle. Sorry, byt FP is a dying profession (as is General Peds).

Specialize or die. That's just the way it is. Jet knows what he's talking about.
