Hey,

I was wondering if there was anyone who boards their horse at OSU campus, or if they found a cheap place to board horses?? I would love to bring my horse to Columbus, but not sure if I can afford it.

I'd just like to second this... I would also be interested in any info on boarding a horse near the OSU. I'm still waiting to hear from 6 more schools, but possibilities for taking my horse with me to vet school will definitely weigh into my decision...

My roommates has a horse that she boards off campus and gets down to see him a couple times a week. I really don't know any details beyond that though.

David - you're not Elizabeth's roommate, are you?

I have my 2 horses boarded at a farm about 25 minutes from campus. Not sure what you consider cheap, but I pay $400/mo for full care. It's a very well kept barn, 16 stalls (all are currently full, however - but they will put you on a waiting list), lovely hay, a nice big indoor, daily turnout. There is no outdoor ring per se, but there is a grass field that we can ride/jump in when the footing is dry enough, and you can ride all over the property.

I have a friend who boards at Hunters Creek Equestrian Center (I think they have a website) and it seems like a nice facility. She is pretty happy there. I think their board is in a similar range, and they have an indoor and outdoor arena, not sure about trails, etc. I believe they have more of a lesson program there, so if that's something you need I'd definitely check it out. We don't have a resident trainer at my barn - it's more of a pleasure riding kind of place, although some of us do show and jump (I do dressage as well - used to event but no time/money anymore!)

Let me know if you have other questions. I don't know much about a lot of the facilities in the area, but I do know a few to avoid!

Yeah, Elizabeth is one of my roommates. I take it your her big sib's big sib then?

Yeah, that's me (Nancy)! Simon lives next to my horse, and they even sort of look alike!

Hey!
I'm a first year at OSU and I brought my horse to school with me. I did A LOT of searching for a barn near cbus and I can tell you that there are a lot of places near cbus- it just depends on your price range. I currently board my horse at Mac Meadow Farm which is about 25 mins from school. They turnout everyday for at least 10 hours in big, well kept grass pastures. There is a big indoor and a really nice lesson program (but you definatly don't have to take lessons to be a part of the barn. The people there are amazing and everyone is very welcoming and kind. Hope this helps!
