horseshoe multi nucleated giant cells

why are the nucleis for multinucleated giant cells (langhan cells) shaped like a horseshoe and out on the periphery of the cell?
 
because its a lot cooler looking that way😎
 
i believe its because they are trying to engulf the thing in the center that they are surrounding. since the nuclei have the least to do with engulfing something, they are furthest away to allow the more important at the moment organelles go to where they are needed....

but i cannot say i am 100% sure thats correct...
