I thought it would be a good idea for people to write reviews for hotels they stayed at for respective interviews.

Get a hotel loyalty card, they are usually free. Find the cheapest rate online, call the hotel directly and mention you are a loyalty card member and see if they match the price.

also ask for student discounts, or rates for any of the local universities (doesn't necessarily need to be the one you are interviewing at). saved $50 a night on that alone.

If you're strapped for cash i would go for something on airbnb.com but maybe places with a lot of reviews so you don't get robbed the day before interviews

For my NYU interview I just booked a spot at the Bowery House. Completely sketchy cause it appears to be partially a hostel. Price was amazing though for $190 for two night, which is by far the cheapest in the area. I managed to get a single room so I don't have to sleep around a bunch of strangers, but its basically a closet with a bed. It's 1.1 miles away from NYU which was the big selling point. If worst comes to worst, I could literally walk to the interview. And if you guys come together, a whole bunch of interviewees could get the larger rooms to split (Bunk Bed style...seriously). I couldn't care less though, the closer I am to the school the better.
