Hi you guys. I am new to the forum and I'm just wondering if someone can give me any advice on housing (I'm going to be a first year student). I'm a Houstonion and am living like 40 minutes away from the dental campus. As excited I am about moving out from my parents' home into an apartment near school, I still don't want to cook and thought I could save a bunch of money staying with them. Can someone tell me what first year is like for a dental studen. Can I afford to stay home and still do ok in school? Thanks a bunch!! 🙂

I can't say much for not wanting to cook as I haven't done much for the past 4 years.

In my opinion, live as close to school as possible. Although I'm not familiar w/ Houston, a 40 minute commute seems like a lot. My first 2 years I lived 20 minutes away and these last 2 years I've been only ~4 minutes away. I can't even begin to express how wonderful it is! If I had to do it all over again, I would live close for all 4 years. I think it's worth the extra rent.

Good luck with school!
