I am a US medical student who will be doing an away elective in Dublin, and need to find a place to stay. Does anyone have information or suggestions.... I am looking into hostels and Daft, but wanted to see if there was anything else out there.

Depending on when your elective is, you could try a sublet from one of the regular students. Most leases are signed for a year rental, and the student goes home for summer.
