Can someone give me some advice about housing in LA? I'm just planning ahead, get an idea of how the pricing is around the area close to USC. If I were to get an interview in November and get accepted, how soon after the intervew will I know of my acceptance? I'm crossing my fingers.........

Triangulation, I read in the previous threads that you were living in Monterey Park. What apartments exactly? And how much are you paying? Is in one bedroom, or are you rooming with someone else?

Anyone else living in LA too, and attending USC/Western?

From what I was told, USC only accepts a "small number" of students 3 weeks after their interview and rest in May. However, several of my friends were accepted 3 weeks after their interview. I would like to believe that I have exceptional bright friends....I would like to believe that. Once you are accepted, USC will send housing information to you, which includes on and off campus housing, as well as a list of USC students that need a roommate. I suggest living off campus because it is relatively cheap to live in Monterey Park and Alhambra; your own room for 500$ a month in those areas. But if you have the taste for finer things in life then I would suggest living in Pasadena or Monterey Hill.

You sure dude? We were both accepted well before May. I think that's fairly common.

HM,

That's great you're looking into all of this now. You'll definitely be rewarded for it. Alhambra and Monterey Park are definitely your best bets for price, convenience, and safety. It's about ten mins to SC from alhambra in a car.

If you don't know about craigslist you definitely need to get familiar with it for housing in LA.

Yah, I think that is fairly common but I was told during the interview that only a "small number" of students get accepted 3 weeks after the interview. My experience, however, does not support it.

Why are you all stealth-mode when you're on this board BMB? Your name is never on "using the forum" list.

Because I dont want others to know that I am addicted to SDN.

$500 for your own room sharing with someone else in one apartment, or $500 for a 1BR apartment? (I'm aiming for a 1BR apartment....)

Some got accepted one week before class started. A few people decide during the summer that USC was not right for them, withdrew their letter of intent, paid a fine, and left. USC then had to scramble to get students from their waitlist, some who decided to accept offers from other pharm school already. It happens at every school.

500$, perhaps a little less, for your own room sharing with someone else in one apartment.

I live in Monterey Park with two other girls and we're paying about $400 each.....I guess it really depends if you're lucky or not 🙂
