Housing Question for University of Tennessee Students

I was just wondering what the best off campus apartments are in Memphis. I've heard Mudd Island is the place to live, but wanted to get some perspective. What do you guys think? What apartments are the best?

Mud Island definately has the nicest places, but they're also the most expensive. I lived in a place called Central Terrace just off of Central Ave and Hollywood (near the fairgrounds). I paid about $800 a month for a 2BR 1.5 bath that was about 1200 square feet. You'll pay $1200 or so for this on Mud Island.

Make sure you live in a safe area. Memphis is just one big ghetto and it's hard to find a safe area. Mud Island is probably as safe as anywhere.
