Has new data been published regarding the validity and effectiveness of this section?

Back in my lurker days I saw some posts about ADCOMS who didn’t really care for this section (some even implied that this section is futile and too easy).

Look on MSAR and you will see that most schools either will have the same 10-90% band for P/S as they do for CARS or will have a slightly narrower and higher band. This implies that they view the P/S section like they do CARS; do well on the section and the absolute score does not necessarily matter as much if the science sections meet the high score. That is just my interpretation of MSAR data, which is old.

However, just do well on all sections and we won’t have to worry!

Mostly we look at the total MCAT score. At top schools, students essentially have to do well in all sections to end up with a good score anyway.

In fact, we rarely look at the breakdown. If we are looking at the breakdown at all, it would be in an effort to be forgiving to a non-native English speaker on CARS. The P/S section is not less important than the other sections, in my mind.

This. And if any sub-section is important, it should be Bio. CARS gets cut the most slack.
