another general dentistry internship: 40 hours
soph year: 4 C's and 2 B's in physics and gchem
junior year: 5 A's and 3 B's in ochem, bio, and other sci classes
so its a drastic upward trend

applying to 25 schools, i jus want one of these schools to grant me an interview so i can feel like i have a chance at showing a school that i can be a dentist.

what do u think are the chances of this happening? thanks

I have similar stats. My GPA is 3.1/3.2 and my DATs are
BIO 20, GC 18, OC 20, TS 19, RC 18, QR 19, AA 19, PAT 21 Hopefully, my story will help you. This is my 3rd year applying to d school!!! The first year, my application was not completed until October. By the time I went to my interviews (late March), the classes were already full. I did get waitlisted, but never got called. The second year, I got rejected right away because I didn't do anything to "improve" my application! This year, after starting a masters program, I have applied to just one school - my state school, and I already have an interview in October. Just know that your GPA is low and they may suggest you do a masters (postbacc). If you're applying to your state school, and if it's not California, then you're probably in good shape. Well, I hope this helps! Best of luck!!!!!

Based on your username, I assume your last name is "singh" so maybe that will also help you out? (that your desi and the school may want to fill the diversity quota) but I dont know. How are LORs? EC? Research?

What do you mean by "internship?"

Oh god, that is bad news. I'm submitting my app this week, and I'm taking the DAT in October 🙁.....I hope there is still....hope.

Hopefully your stats are better than mine. GPA holds a lot of importance for most schools. If your stats are like mine and you don't want to do a postbacc next year, I would seriously consider not applying until next year (2009). If you apply this year and don't get in, they'll expect you to "improve" your app for the following year.

well singh is an indian name (not native american) and indian = asian....as we all know asian applicants are NOT scarce. they have more than enough asians to choose from to not have a problem filling any diversity they may need.

If you graduated from Ive Leagues then maybe you're ok, otherwise ---> do a master. Just my opinion though.

Are you kidding me? the guy has a 20AA with nothing lower than an 18. As long as you applied fairly early and to schools other then harvard, penn, columbia... you'll be fine.

"Luck" play a big part of this game. Nowadays too many applicants have competitive DAT scores. Ok DAT scare doesn't necessary get you into dental school. Admit it!

Yeah, the Cali state schools are really competitive.

I second that. Our two state schools are UCSF and UCLA which are really well known for their prowess in the field of healthcare. Plus, there are tons of people applying from California since the state is well populated. Also, the wonderful weather attracts out of staters.
