I got my first semester grades back and I got an A-(3 credits) in Intro Bio but a B-(2 credits) in the lab. Do medical schools really look at lab grades or do they just look at cGPA and sGPA?

I think I did okay in the class but the lab grade is horrible. Everyone says the second semester of class and lab are much easier, so if I get better grades in the second part of lab, will that in anyway offset the B- in the first part?

Thanks

OMG, just quit now and start planing for a future as a car salesman!!

Honestly, they look at everything. cGPA, sGPA, grade trends, EC's, MCAT, etc. But a B- is not the end of the world; you really need to get a better perspective on life.

Its all one grade bro. There is not A lecture and B lab. Its only biology grade. ie. Cell Biology- A or Microbiology-C

I had a B- in one of my intro bio labs. I'm in med school now.

Absolutely nobody is going to care about your B-. Stop being so neurotic.

I read somewhere on Baylor's website that you can't apply there with a B- in biolab. Hope you didn't want to go to that school.

Haha. Awesome.

If this thread gave rep, you'd definitely get some from me.

But, seriously, OP, you definitely aren't the first one here, nor will you be the last, to first obsess about a grade(s) and subsequently get into med school. I am proof of that. Bottom line, med schools care about WHO you are. Obsess about becoming someone to whom they can't deny admission. It's the whole picture, not just a grade.

I have a B- in a prereq and it has not come up at any of my interviews. You're fine, just don't make it a pattern.
