So I've read on here that if you retake a class that you got a D in, it's absolutely essential that you get an A on the retake. What if that's not possible? Is a B and up at least good enough? I know that MD schools just average the original and retake grade. So, if you average a D and B in a 3 credit class, that would give you a 2.00 which is a C, a B+ and D would give you a 2.2 (rounded) which is higher, and etc.

Pretty sure if you retake a class they will expect you to get an A in it. Getting an A won't really make a big difference because they expect you to get an A, but getting a grade lower than an A may hurt you because after taking a class twice you still aren't doing it successfully. So, perhaps wait to retake it until you have your study habits mastered and you know you can excel in the class.

Hopefully the second time around, you know what's going on. It honestly should be easy to get an A the second time around, but with classes like O Chem or BioChem it's going to take plenty of work.
