I just noticed that there are a few (4) spelling errors in my application. They are all located within the "experiences" section of the application. How will this hurt my application? Should I write a letter explaining my errors?

Thanks

Have any of you noticed that you had spelling mistakes in your application but still got interviewed and accepted?

i guess it depends on how bad the errors are and how anal the reviewers are. last year i sat on a fellowship committee, and one of the reviewers went through each app with a red pencil and noted grammar/spelling mistakes, but i don't thing that kind of practice is all that common. especially since it's in your experiences section and not the more important ps, i'd say don't worry about it. besides, there's nothing you can do about it at this point.

by the way, i've also found a few errors post-submission and i've gotten 6 interviews so far. don't worry about it.

You probably won't get in because of them!! Just kidding, most applications have at least one grammar error. The people that read them usually don't have time to check for those types of errors. You're fine. 👍

I'd also say it's a fair guess that most of those people probably won't notice small grammar/spelling errors. They're doctors/scientists/administrators, not english professors!

For what it is worth... I read this at the UCSF site:

Does AMCAS send the entire application to UCSF?
AMCAS sends us the electronic data in your application after they have reviewed and verified your official transcripts. UCSF does not receive the narrative description nor the contact information of each of your experiences.

so if this is the case with all schools, no one is even gong to see your errors.

This is not the case for all schools, probably just a few who will ask for your expereinces, etc. as part of your secondary application.

yeah, ucsf only reviews the titles of your post-secondary experiences, but i believe they're the exception.
